A Change in Family Dynamic

I have some news! I’m very excited to report that I accepted a job at the Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital. I will be back in the lab again! The job itself is lab, pretty much the same the world over, with the exception of a higher incidence of cancer patients and thus, abnormal cell differentials (stick with me-I won’t get too technical). The hours, however, are amazing. It’s a 32 hour a week job with no weekends or holidays. Let me say that again: No weekends or holidays.

I didn’t want to work in a hospital lab setting again because of the 24 hour nature of the hospital. I wanted to work in a clinic, where I would likely not work weekends or holidays. The Cancer Center is basically a huge clinic.

The issue was, would I make enough only working 32 hours, to allow Ed to quit? The answer is, yes! That was wonderful news.

Ed is leaving Bill Black, a bittersweet thing. He’s worked there for 15 years and likes the people he works with. His hours, however, are terrible and the job is stressful. Our hope is that he will be able to get his teaching certification and enter the school system by the time Teddy and Oliver are in school.

So, there is a big change in our family dynamic coming soon! I am super excited about it.
